Johar Ali Khan, with late Ustad Gohar Ali Khan for a father and Guru,mother from a musical family and grandfather, the founder of Patiala Gharana, the late illustrious Ustad Ali Baksh, has specialised in systematic elaboration of raag, melodies and innovative approach in presenting taan, and established himself as a noted violin exponent.
He has performed in 400 recitals in Delhi alone and at ‘Young Music Festival’, Orissa; ‘Platinum Jubilee Celebration’ of Aligarh Muslim University; SPIC-MACAY; Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy; Annual Music Festival, Delhi School of Music, Punjab Amritsar Heritage Festival, INTACH.
He has represented India in many countries abroad including Africa, Europe and has given performances in Nepal, Indo-West Fusion Concert, Dubai, BBC, London, Trans Musical Festival, France and Helsinki Music Festival, Finland.
A regular performer on TV and radio, Johar has been associated with many groups and artistes of international repute, and creating innovative and thematic music. Sargam, a musical band founded by him aimed at Fusion of modern and traditional musical instruments/musical archaistic with light classical, Bollywood, popular Jazz, Punjabi and Hindi songs, has found instant success.
