Trained
under eminent Gurus, Monalisa has been performing in prestigious
music and dance conferences in India since 1983. Her performances
abroad include in Bangladesh, Italy, France, Holland, Sweden,
UK, United Arab Emirates, and USA. She has given over 50 performances
in the cities of Germany and Austria every year since 1992, which
is a record for any Odissi dancer. Principal of her institute
Kalajyoti Gurukul, Kolkata where on the pattern of Gurukul, the
students from India and abroad stay there while receiving training,
she also provides free training to 25 students from very poor
families. A senior empanelled artiste of Indian Council for Cultural
Relations and EZCC, ‘A’ grade Doordarshan TV artiste,
judge for West Bengal State Music Academy and Juba Utsab, Monalisa
is Head of the Department of Odissi, Surnandan Bharati, Kolkata.
