Trained under eminent Gurus, Parvathi is one of the torch bearers of the mythological, religious, historical and social traditions associated with Bharatanatyam. With rich experience in dance for about three decades, Parvathi’s presentations reflect her intellectual approach, aesthetic sensibility and quest for the spiritual in art. She has performed at all the prestigious sabhas in Chennai and in various festivals in India and abroad. Her presentations include: St. Thyagaraja, Mahakavi Subramaniya Bharatyar, Thirumoolar Thirumanthiram, Ananda Natana Prakasam (based on their works) and among her a score of dance ballets on devotional themes are: ‘Arun Adal’, ‘Ganga Lahari’, ‘Krishna Madhuryam’, ‘Aindhamudhu’. Her special dance ballet is a jugalbandhi (fusion) of Bharatanatyam and Kathak. An established artiste of Indian Council of Cultural Relations, she was sent to Europe as Cultural Ambassador to perform. Parvathi is Managing Director, Kala Pradarshini, Chennai (launched in 1998) where she imparts advance training in dance to overseas students also. She has choreographed for dance sequences in telefilms.
