Initiated
into dance at the age of 5 years and trained by eminent Manipuri
Gurus, Priti excelled not only in Manipuri form but also mastered
the pre-Vishnuvite dance forms of ‘Thangta’ (martial
art form of Manipuri) and ‘Lai Haraoba’ (ritualistic
dance form of Manipuri).
She has performed in India and abroad and her greatest contribution to
Manipuri dance form is her holistic approach based school Anjika in Kolkata
where she imparts training and expertise in this dance form.
She also teaches Movement Therapy through the medium of Manipuri dance
to children suffering from cerebral palsy for which she took formal training
from Lesley College, Boston (USA). Graded as ‘outstanding category
artiste’ by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, and Doordarshan
Kendra in classical Manipuri dance, Priti through her devotion to this
art has been able to preserve the very eminence and purity of Manipuri
dance over the years.
