trained dancer, teacher and cheoreographer Smt. Padmini Rao
besides giving numerous performances has presented ‘Nrityaradhana’ and ‘Navasandhi
Nritya’, a traditional temple dance. As Dance Guru,
and Head of the Faculty, Ponnaiah Lalithakala Academy, Bangalore
she imparts practical teaching and choreographing of new
items, dance features and dance dramas. She has been Examiner,
Karnataka State Education Board; Scholarship Committee, Karnataka
Sangeet Nritya Academy; for M.A. Bangalore University; Member:
Syllabus Committee for Bharatanatyam Dance for State Directorate
of Text Books; Final Vidwath (Bharatanatyam) Text Book; Chairman,
Syllabus Committee for Dance in Govt. Schools; and Member,
Secretary and Treasurer, Karnataka Nrityakala Parishath.
As Founder-Secretary, Ponnaiah Lalithakala Academy which
Smt. Padmihni Rao has been developing into a cultural resource
centre on Gurukul pattern with a model auditorium Parampara.
